Thanks for the tour!

This is us.

Once in awhile, high school becomes particularly relevant to students. When they are in a class that allows them a glimpse into their own futures...When they go out on a beautiful spring day on a field trip and listen to adults that are doing something that they are particularly interested in - in a really cool setting, with real teaching by business professionals going on - it becomes especially relevant.

That's what happened for these students from Lewisville ISD last Friday, thanks to Holli, James, Chris, DJ and Caroline. These wonderful TM people took time out of their day to talk "real world stuff" to our 40 high school students from Marcus, The Colony, Flower Mound, Hebron and Lewisville High Schools who attend the Career Center East to take Graphic Design and Illustration classes. These students were lucky enough to reap the benefits of the experience of five very cordial TMers.



Where did your mustache go?

First there was James. He was wonderful overall, and talked to us about a side of advertising that we are acutely aware of at our age... the digital side. Of course, we know that we don't go anywhere without our smart phones and we know that our lives are very plugged in - but it was cool to hear him discuss the way that this is having an effect on the advertising world. TM has really made a commitment to connecting with the brand and using all media to best effect. (Plus, he really knows a lot about a lot!)

We knew this was lurking in you somewhere...

Chris had amazing energy and did a great job of communicating the enthusiasm he feels for his job. He talked to us about people skills and being able to "read" the client appropriately...and about presenting with a high level of drama and energy... all the things that we are interested in learning to do better!

Thanks for a day of inspiration.

Holli talked with us about building a creative team and made us feel extremely welcome while we were in the agency. She was a gracious host and let us live part of our day on the inside of a profession that we all aspire to be a part of one day.



This is who we want to become.

Caroline was kind enough to allow us to peek over her shoulder during her workday and she told us what it is like to work as a designer on the TM team. She has the best smile! She was so nice and answered all of our questions. 

The Deej. We feel we know ya.

DJ explained what a media planner does. We really liked hearing how media and creative work together, and we have a clear understanding of how TM values their entire team and how one group really can't do it without the others. What a great group of people!

We know we have a way to go before we can become TMers too, but we are at the beginning of the experience that will help us get there while we are still in high school. We are busy learning software, becoming acutely aware of all it takes to learn to be a member of a creative team, learning to draw and become visually aware in all mediums.

We have listed our names and we hope you won't forget us in four or five years when we come back with our portfolios! Our names are below. Our work is included in our gallery page (You'll find a link to the right, and if you click on one of the pages we have created, you will see a sample of some work that we have done that we are proud of. Some are illustrations, some are ad pieces, some are photographs that we have taken, but ALL are 100% us.)
